This site is to help you make your own
Spica Chair. Please note: Tasmanian
residents can borrow one for free
A donation of $2.00 will give you
the plans, a what to buy list,
instructions and step by step photos.
These Spica chairs have been designed and made by us, to help parents when their child is in a hip Spica cast, a rhino brace for hip dysplasia or suffering from a broken femur -
hopefully to help make it a little easier.
ABOUT THE CHAIRS
AGE GROUP
The chairs are designed for children aged approximately 6 months to 3 years of age.
Plans can be modified to suit the child's size.
COST OF PLANS
The reason for the donation of $2.00 is to keep the website running. I do not receive any government funding I am self funded, with help from clubs, parents of chair recipients and friends.
I have so many enquiries about my chairs from all over the world, including other states of Australia.
So I decided to set up this website so no child will have to go without. I do hope that the families that use the plans and make a chair,
pay it forward, to help others.
Mr Jit Balakumar
MBBS FRACS(Orth)
Paediatric & Adult Orthopaedic Surgeon
One of the top five Orthopaedic surgeons
in Australia.
Mr. Balakumar has been my surgeon since 2010, and still is.
He is pleased to endorse my Spica Chairs and said that it helps the children more than I will ever realise.
SORRY, but we make my chairs available only in Tasmania, on loan, free of charge, state wide. BUT you can donate $2.00 and receive the plans from us, so that you can make your own. The donation of $2.00 is hoping that it will cover the cost of keeping this website going.
